Geography Club

Geography Club
Come and explore the world beginning Tuesday, October 7; 1-2:30

The Geography Club will meet once a month and explore the world through activities that focus on the 5 themes of geography - location, place, human-environmental interactions, movement and regions.

A long term goal is to get registered for the National Geographic Bee that takes place annually. At first, we will keep the club on a local level. After a year or two, we will register for the National Bee and compete on regional and state levels.

Activities and lessons come from the National Council for Geographic Education.

All meetings will be at my house in Littlestown. If there is enough interest, I will look for a bigger location in the area.

Meeting times are 1 - 2:30 and the dates are as follows:

October 7
November 4
December 2
January 6
February 3
March 3
April 7
May 5

This club is for students in grades 3 to 5 (maybe 6). Meetings will take place once a month and there will be minimal homework involved with the club.

Our club will be asking for donations of atlases, maps (state, US and world) and world almanacs.

Fees:
*CHESS members - $2 per child per meeting
Non *CHESS members - $4 per child per meeting

If you are interested in joining the Geography Club, please let me know by September 30 so I can be sure to have enough supplies on hand and so I can give you details like what to bring to meetings.

*CHESS or Christian Home Educator Support Services is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that seeks out and provides resources to families who educate their children at home.
