Lapbooking the Nativity

This class will be held at my house in Littlestown and will be perfect for children 5 to 7 years old and is separate from the afternoon class I am offering to those who are 8 years old and up.

Lapbooking the Nativity
December 16-18 10am - Noon

In this class, we will go through the nativity story by creating a lapbook using fine art and scripture to help us tell the story.
Parents do not have to stay during the class. As a matter of fact, with all the other stuff you have to do this week before Christmas, I encourage you to go and get it done. Even if you just need to go back to your house and take a bubble bath. That's fine.Cost will be $10 per day or $25 for the three days per child. If you are a CHESS member, the cost will be $8 per day or $20 for the three days per child. Contact me for sibling discounts.

The recommended age for this class is 5 to 7 years old. However, if you have an 8 or 9 year old who would enjoy making a lapbook, that is fine.Space is limited to 8 participants. A $10 nonrefundable deposit will be required to hold your space when you RSVP.

The Nativity Through Fine Art

I know from previous experience that when it gets close to Christmas, my enthusiasm for getting lessons in wanes. As an effort to keep things fresh, in sync with the season, and helpful to others, I am offering to take your kids ages 8 and up for a whole week and do "lessons" with them.

We will study the Nativity through the Bible and fine art. Subject areas to be covered this week are art, art appreciation, language arts (literature and composition), music, and history. We will also view segments of The Nativity Story as part of our study. At the end of the week, children will have a notebook filled with beautiful art to share with relatives over the holidays.

This class will be held at my house in Littlestown and will be from 1pm to 4pm on December 15-19, 2008.
NOTE: If there is enough interest, I will offer this class during the morning hours (9am to Noon) as well.

Parents do not have to stay during the class. As a matter of fact, with all the other stuff you have to do this week before Christmas, I encourage you to go and get it done. Even if you just need to go back to your house and take a bubble bath. That's fine.

Cost will be $15 per day or $60 for the week per child.
If you are a CHESS member, the cost will be $10 per day or $40 for the week per child.

Space is limited to 8 participants ages 8 and up. A $10 nonrefundable deposit will be required to hold your space when you RSVP.

Fall 2008 - Charlotte Mason Discussion Group

Please bear with me, I am still working out the details on this one.
We will meet once a month to discuss Karen Andreola's book A Charlotte Mason Companion: Personal Reflections on the Gentle Art of Learning. You can find the book here, here or here. Each month we will focus on a different chapter of the book. You are asked to read it ahead of time, but it's not necessary. We will also have a time of "show and tell" when you can tell others in the group how you have implemented a Charlotte Mason ideal into your homeschool.

Right now I am trying to decide whether to do this in the evenings, on weekends or during a weekday afternoon.

Once I get all the details figured out, I will post here and send out announcements.
